DescriptionThe Windermere District Gas Co was incorporated in 1862 and works were built on Brantfell Road. In 1869 a further Act changed the name to the Windermere District Gas and Water Co. An attempt by the Windermere UDC to purchase the works in 1913 was unsuccessful though a second offer in 1929 was accepted. In 1949 it vested into the Kendal Group of the NWGB. There are only photographs in this collection.
