Title
PADIHAM URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL
Description
The Padiham Gaslight and Coke Co was established in 1846 and was purchased by the Padiham and Hapton Local Board in 1875. Works were built in the centre of the town but a new site was needed by 1884 and acquired in 1887. Further extensions and improvements were made between 1896 and 1907. In 1908 an Act of Parliament extended the area of supply and enabled the undertaking to acquire a further site at Park Rd which was opened in 1910. In 1949 it became part of the Burnley - Colne Group of the NWGB. This collection contains only one item: a report on the plant. [1918]
