Title
NEW MILLS URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL
Description
The New Mills and Hayfield Gas Light Co was formed in 1836 and the works were built alongside the railway line and the river Goyt in Hayfield. In 1893 the Local Board purchased the works following a report and valuation made in 1892. The works supplied the districts of New Mills and Disley. The undertaking remained in local authority ownership until 1949 when it became part of the Peak Group of the NWGB. There are three items in this collection: two reports on the works and one plan. [1892 - 1947]
