Description
The Nantwich Gas Co. Ltd was established in 1869 and works were built alongside the river Weaver at Wych House Bank in Nantwich. The area of supply included Acton, Alvaston, Henhull, Willaston and Worleston. In 1903 the undertaking was purchased by Nantwich Urban District Council and its area of supply was extended. It remained in local authority ownership until 1938 when it was acquired by the Severn Valley Gas Corp. Ltd. and traded under the name of the Nantwich Gas Company Ltd.
