Title	DUKINFIELD URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL
Description	The Dukinfield Gas Co was formed in 1854 but the Dukinfield and Denton Local Board Act of 1877 absorbed the company and managed the works which were on Blandford St through a Joint Committee of the Boards, incorporated as the Dukinfield and Denton Joint Gas Committee. The Committee was to supply Haughton as well as both Local Board areas but was to be dissolved when a new gasworks was built in Denton. In 1880 the Denton and Haughton Gas Act established a second separate Joint Committee which in 1881 purchased land from the Earl of Wilton to build its own gasworks in Denton. Dukinfield Corporation continued to operate its own works and separated from Denton in 1884. In 1938 the Hyde Gas Co purchased both the Dukinfield and the Denton undertakings and was incorporated as the North Cheshire and District Gas Co. which was then itself absorbed by the UKGC. The NCDGCo vested in the North Cheshire Group of the NWGB in 1949. (See also DEU and NOC) There are two financial items in this collection.
