Description
The Runcorn Gas Co was incorporated in 1837 and the works were built alongside the Bridgewater Canal. A new works opened in Halton Rd, also alongside the canal in 1894. In 1935 the UKGC acquired a controlling interest in the company and in 1938 the Frodsham Gas and Water Co was taken over to form the Runcorn and District Gas Co. In 1949 it became part of the Mid-Cheshire Group of the NWGB. This collection contains a small quantity of records for the Frodsham gas undertaking. It includes amalgamation papers, minutes and financial records. There are also employment records, a pension register and a photograph of the Runcorn showroom. [1836 - 1949]
