| Description | The Morecambe undertaking was established in 1858 as the Morecambe Gas and Light Co Ltd. It was incorporated as the Morecambe Gas and Light Co by Act of Parliament in 1879. The works were in Moss Lane / Market St. The Corporation purchased the undertaking in 1900 and a series of Acts extended the area of supply and enabled a large programme of reconstruction and expansion. In 1949 the undertaking joined the Lancaster-Morecambe Group of the NWGB. This collection contains a small quantity of estate records, photographs of exhibitions and three press cuttings volumes.
