Description
Gas Power Conversions Ltd (GPC) was formed on 27th September 1939. Its Registered Office was at 60 Whitworth Street, Manchester. It was involved with converting internal combustion transport and stationary engines, so they could be operated with coal gas. A large shareholder in this company was The United Kingdom Gas Corporation Ltd (UKGC), a gas holding company.UKGC wrote off all its investment in this subsidiary company on 31st December 1944. All trading activities GPC seem to have ceased by this date.On 20th June 1945, UKGC passed £1,500 to GPC, which was used to reduce its bank overdraft.The last AGM of GPC took place on 22nd July 1947, and by this time the Company had ceased trading.GPC was disolved by the Companies Registration Office in 1958.
