GARSTANG GAS COMPANY LTD.
Description
This company was formed as a non statutory company in 1879 and its works were built on land along the Lancashire and Preston Canal, on Moss Lane. In 1880 a Gas Order gave its limits of supply as Barnacre -with-Bonds, Cabus, Catterall, Kirkland, Nateby and Winmarleigh in Garstang. A further Order in 1914 authorised the company to extend its limits of supply and raise capital. It remained a company limited by shares until nationalisation in 1949 when it vested in the Preston Group of the NWGB. There are no administrative records in this collection.There is one photograph in the estate records, a number of financial records including share ledgers and insurance papers and three Acts of Parliament.
